A little preparation before we arrive goes a long way — it helps the job start on time, keeps your belongings protected, and means our crew can focus entirely on surface prep and painting rather than working around clutter. Here's a simple checklist to work through before your project begins.
Clear the space
Where possible, move smaller furniture, décor and breakables out of the rooms being painted, or into the centre of the room away from the walls. For larger furniture that can't be moved, we'll cover and protect it on site, but clearing what you can beforehand speeds things up considerably.
Take down wall fittings
Artwork, mirrors, curtains, curtain rods and any wall-mounted fittings are easiest to remove before we start, especially in rooms getting a full repaint. If you'd rather we handle this, just let us know in advance so it's factored into the quote.
Note any repairs
If you're aware of cracks, holes or areas of damage, point these out during the quote stage. Surface preparation — patching, sanding and priming — is already built into how we approach every job, but flagging specific problem areas upfront helps us plan for them properly.
Plan around pets and access
Let us know about pets that might need to be kept away from work areas, and make sure we have clear access to the property and to power and water where needed. For occupied homes, talking through which rooms will be out of use on which days helps everyone plan around the work.
Decide on your colours early
Paint colours and finishes take time to settle on, so it's worth deciding these well before the start date rather than during the job. If you're undecided, we're happy to talk through options that suit your space when we quote the project.
A bit of preparation on your end means less time spent moving things around on the day and more time spent on what matters — a careful, well-prepped paint job that lasts.
